It seems WotC more or less pretended 4E never existed and went right back to "what makes Classic D&D". Reviewers do seem to admit even basic Mechanics - Advantage, Disadvantage - are not that balanced.
If you like D&D 3.5E with somewhat clearer Rules and Rebooted without the accumulating baggage over time, this is good to try out. This means Vancian Magic, Unbalanced Classes, "Standard" Monsters, the Works.
If you're into a mathematical base for customizing monsters, balanced classes and encounters, it might be better to stick to 4E.
