Australasia (Australia, New Zealand)
Australasia is a good place to live in, with good sheep and good people. The outback is really rough though. It seems generally at peace with all the rest of the world. Despite its huge landmass, Australasia has a relative low population to the rest of the world. It is not centralised nor easy to take over, and as long as it continues selling its resources to the rest of the world, it is likely to stay the way it has been.
Africa
After being carved up by the colonials and then left to fend for itself, Africa is a morass of division exacerbated by language barriers caused by the colonials. The north of Africa, what was once Libya, Tunisia, to Algeria, have since been destroyed by nuclear action from Europe, and have created a natural "wilderness" in the north, which shocked the continent into realising who was the real enemy. The outrage would however not last for long, and the African nations quickly returned back to the individual power struggles.
Europe/ Neureich
Since successfully uniting the many countries of Europe, the regime of Neureich has grown in influence and economy. The idea of the nordic/aryan master race is strongly rooted in the culture, and has only been reinforced by historical victories. The leadership maintains a "you mind your business, and we will mind ours" diplomatic stance that keeps it inward looking for most matters except trade. The production value of brands from Europe still carries a premium in many countries, perhaps as a holdover from the colonial era, and is further proof that the works of the master race indeed far exceeds that of all else in the world.
USA
The USA has grown since the events of the World War 2. Its advances made during the war were too late to stop the dominance of Neureich, but have nonetheless equipped it with world class military capabilities, which it has shared with those of its allies that remain, for a price. What the USA is touted for in modern days is as a centre of learning for most of the rest of the world, and as an inclusive society for all people, and that is how it likes to be seen.
Those of you who have spent a long amount of time there know better. The corporate finery are ties to the local power brokers, and there has always been a strata of incumbent elites with money and land that hold command over the common people, who are but gears in the wheel. The USA ever seeks to advance its edge in all fields, and there are always those willing to undertake all sorts of research and experiments as long as the price is right, and their reach is far and wide, for the corporate agenda rules all and roams even beyond borders.
East Asia (China, South East Asia)
China is a burgeoning power in the east, and a diplomatic ally of both the USA and Soviet Union. The country manages the tension between the two powers well, not least by having a powerful military presence and with what some claim to be perhaps among the most advanced cyber warfare capabilities. The nearby islands of what used to be Japan, Taiwan, Korea, are all but vassal states. Its influence stretches south to ASEAN.
Despite the official stance of tolerance and inclusiveness, China and its people are still relatively xenophobic. Their distinctive languages in each country makes foreigners feel unwelcome, and the people are constantly on the watch for those different from them. You are also aware of studies and experiments conducted involving people, including political dissidents, and also those with special capabilities. The country ensure their best and brightest make a choice early on in their education, that they are either for or against the government. The eyes of the state keeps a watchful awareness for spies, malcontents, dissidents, and of course, those with special abilities that cannot be normally accounted for.
South East Asia (ASEAN) is a fragmented community, with racial divides and outward finger-pointing determining political dominance. Despite being officially an association of nations, the individual countries rarely have much cooperation outside of economical trading, but nor do they make military moves against each other. Most of the northern ASEAN countries and other more ethnically Chinese nations have closer ties to China than to any given country in ASEAN.
While ASEAN has no real stance on mutants, it is likely that disturbances will be noticed in major cities. Geographically most countries in the region are relatively small, and there is always a nearby border to cross beyond which extradition is difficult, at best. The area is fragmented just like its countries, and there is not much centralised coordination in the area. If the party has good ocean-faring capabilities, dancing across borders - especially on sea - is not all that difficult.
