The heroes meet at the Pig's Paunch and are introduced to Janira Gavix, a halfling bard who brings them to investigate a cave in the Kortos Mounts where she spotted gillmen visiting. Along the way she distracts a minotaur so the heroes can get on with exploring and mapping the cave. Inside they uncover an old site of worship to the Aroden, the dead God of Humanity, and a miniature model of Absalom, as well as a pool of water holy to gillmen. They befriend a deaf gillman oracle who informs them of unsavoury denizens of the cave, that they eventually come upon as the cavern slopes back up to the surface, and proceed to clear out. As this is going on, they hear sounds of fighting towards the surface and Janira singing songs of encouragement to herself. They press on doggedly and arrive just in time to see her heavily injured and battling the minotaur, which is slightly wounded. Rushing in as quickly as they can and working together, they manage to defeat the minotaur and save Janira from certain death, thus passing their Confirmation with flying colors.

The Wayfinder is a magical trinket used almost exclusively by members of the Pathfinder Society, and has become the calling card symbol of the society. The symbol engraved on the outside of the casing is also known as the Glyph of the Open Road, the Society's logo itself. Upon completion of their Confirmation, each Pathfinder is given a Wayfinder, which is to be worn as a brooch over their cloak or hanging from a chain in front of them as a sign of their standing as confirmed members of the Pathfinder Society. Arthur is able to confirm that Wayfinder designs are derived from ancient Azlanti artifacts, and it is likely that the Pathfinder Society possesses some such artifacts for reference by the magical crafters of the item. While most experienced magical crafters can build a new wayfinder, many date back decades or even centuries and are handed down across generations. The Wayfinder occupies its own slot, and comes in the following variants at the following levels and respective "base" costs. A Wayfinder has no resale value. Note a Wayfinder (standard) cannot be upgraded into a different Wayfinder. Having completed your Confirmation fully, you get to buy your first Wayfinder at 20% below the listed price. Edit: For avoidance of doubt, since Kyle (and Nick and Dzaki) missed the Confirmation game, their characters get the 20% discount but only if their first Wayfinder is the L2 Wayfinder or L4 Jade Wayfinder. Also, anyone who does not choose to buy a Wayfinder (yet), will get a Wayfinder brooch. It looks like a Wayfinder and has the Glyph on the Open Road on the outside, but has no function. ============ 300 gp / L2 Wayfinder (standard) : You gain a +2 item bonus to Nature checks when navigating, and can emit 5 squares of light from itself, as if from an everburning torch. This Wayfinder has no special or delicate components, and does not follow item breakage rules. 500 gp / L4 Jade Wayfinder : You gain a +2 item bonus to Nature checks when navigating. Once per scenario, you can use an interrupt to grant yourself or an adjacent ally half Sec Trait item bonus to a skill check. You can recharge this usage with 1 WP Recovery usage. In addition, you can use Guidance once before resting, ie as if it were a Signature ability. 2000 gp / L8 Vanishing Wayfinder : You gain a +2 item bonus to Nature checks when navigating, and can emit 5 squares of light from itself, as if from an everburning torch. Once per scenario, you can spend 1 WP to cast Invisibility, but only on yourself. You can recharge this usage with 1 WP Recovery usage. Note that if you use it as a pre-buff, you must spend 1 more WP. 5000 gp / L11 Ebon Wayfinder : You gain a +2 item bonus to Nature checks when navigating, and you have darkvision 10. Once per scenario, you can cast Darkness as follows, centred on yourself. You can recharge this ability by spending 2 WP, but not more than once per scenario.

In return for promising him a favour, they learn from Dakar, leader of the Commerce League, the one who had Colgardie murdered are at the Naderi Theatre. They first decide to go to an ostensibly abandoned prison, choosing to avoid two giant scorpions but instead aiming to surprise a troll guard before he can raise the alarm, which they succeed at. In the prison building they quickly deal with few more goblins and race up to the second floor as a warrior looks like he is about to burn away some important letters, and manage to capture the lone man with some difficulty, who they learn to be Kormiggon. They then discreetly head to the other location, a modest temple of Nethys in Meatgate, convincing the other turncoat Pathfinders led by Mulminah to consider rejoining the cause without further bloodshed.

To this end, they are to follow him while he sleepwalks, keep him safe until he reaches his destination, and figure out what over there is the cause of his sleepwalking. After some misadventures, including getting him to walk around brambles, stopping him from drowning, then getting him through a canyon, fighting some bears then bandits, they arrive at a black structure which leads deep underground where millenia ago, an ancient Thassillonian order called the Thrallkeepers, in service to the Runelord of Sloth, summoned creatures to do their bidding. There they found in two protective circles each, a gnome that didn't seem to be one, and an unconscious female elf. They quickly surmised the gnome was some evil being in disguise, and decided to disregard its requests to instead walk past it to the elf, whereupon a large black dragon burst out of a pool of water nearby and attacked. The heroes realised its an undead zombie under some sort of illusion, and retreated, with Arthur drinking a potion of protection from undead that makes him indiscernible. From there he approached the unconscious elf, recognising her up close to be an Azata, then freed and healed her. She had been giving Kalkamedes the sleepwalking summons, and now freed could cure him of it. They then departed, leaving the glabrezu which was disguised as a gnome to rot in the place.

FACTION CHANGES
Following the death of Baron Jacquo Dalsine and the "cessation" of Pasha Mulia Al'Jakri, new leaders are eventually decided upon for the factions. Lady Gloriana Morilla steps up as the new leader of the Taldan faction, while the Qadirans fall in behind Trade Prince Aaqir Al'Hakam.
Before the dust even settles, the Society is more beleagered by Grand Master Torch's betrayal, and some of the remaining still loyal Shadow Lodge members officially resign to follow him as well, while many others are left listless and lost. This sparks a serious concern within the leadership of the Society that the tension between various factions, each serving their own nation (Andoran, Cheliax, Osirion, Qadira, Taldor), would cause the Society more harm than good, but they are loathe to cut ties especially when they are in need of allies.
The Grand Lodge faction opens its doors to more recruits, especially those that might feel betrayed and lost after Grandmaster Torch's betrayal, even as the leadership takes note from past lessons and is determined to do a better job "inculcating" the values of being a "true Pathfinder" into the membership both new and old, and into prospective initiates to the Society.
Meantime, the Ruby Prince of Osirion manages to survive his near-death via the curse, but it is no thanks to the Sapphire Sage who not only has been unable to provide a proper cure, and was even missing due to being caught up in all sorts of nonsensical internal betrayal related to the Pathfinder Society politics. Amenopheus is summarily dismissed from the Osirion court, and the nation severs ties with him and those that choose to remain with him, which are now known as the Scarab Sages. They now focus more on unearthing relics and clues from the past of Osirion to restore a long-lost order of wisdom and knowledge once thought lost to history.
Paracountess Zarta Dralneen of the Cheliax faction, after being away from Cheliax for so long, ends up the victim of political assassination from home. The Pathfinder Society investigates her disappearance and eventually sends a team to rescue her from Cheliax, increasing the tensions with that particular nation. Zarta Dralneen reorganises those that still remain into the Dark Archives, focused on gathering magical artifacts for the express purpose of "keeping them safe", but everyone knows it is to gather tools to extract vengeance on those who betrayed her.
After these upheavals and considering the nature of the the Golarion-wide access that the Pathfinder Society "platform" provides, some of the remaining factions decide to re-invent themselves to better make use of this, and it also serves a better calling card in that their past associations might not be immediately known. Andoran's faction becomes the Liberty's Edge, rallying around ideas of liberty and freedom and democracy, fighting against slavery and oppression, wherever they may be, and even if slavery were legal it is to be fought against, just like if nobles were lording it over common folk, they should be put in place. Qadira becomes the Exchange, the trade-oriented organisation that would bring forth "peace, unification, prosperity" via Trade, with the firm belief that surely some mutually profitable arrangement can be worked out from virtually any situation.
The new Taldan faction leader Gloriana Morilla finds herself - especially as a female - taken more seriously abroad than at home, while the Qadirans' new vehicle looks poised to spread its influence rapidly without being tied to a flag, and as Andorans' new rallying call put nobles around the Golarion on edge. Since these were both long time enemies of the Taldans, she decides to reorganise a new focus as the Sovereign Court, dedicated to building a network of like-minded nobles that could offer counsel, advice, aid and of course assistance to each other in maintaining their rightful long held position as the creme la creme, while subtly putting Taldor in an unofficial capacity as the ideal vanguard. In truth, few of the actual Taldan nobility ever had any involvement in such "overarching" concerns outside of their (most important) country, preferring to squabble for pieces of their ever-shrinking pie, but Lady Gloriana hopes that her success can inspire a new generation of nobility to rise up and return Taldor to the pole position that she has reserved.
OOC Note : Silver Crusade faction is unchanged and unshaken by any of these upheavals, rising above the bickering, as it were.
