4.5 Aboard the Unicorn

The heroes later learn that back at the room where the two Magistrates were viewing the meeting via the Crystal Ball, Magistrate Mirian had been angered by the waste of time, and Magistrate Marlon was embarrassed at how his son Joien called them out without a solid lead, with not much to witness.
Frustrated by the lack of "witnessed" evidence against Nerinia, and the Chief Constable's reluctance to act against his old flame, the heroes decided to leave Berklin and move on with Zaylor's express desire to rid the world of lizardmen. Before leaving, Cassandra and Zaylor gave Chief Joien a piece of their mind, one that he seemed to respond to with grim determination. He also wrote the party a letter of recommendation to be passed to the commanding officer of the East Garrison.
While travelling on board a merchant ship called the Unicorn en route to Bellenau near the East Garrison, the heroes become aware of an enemy ship, a strange craft made of what seemed to be animal leather hides and other materials. The ship was identified as a lizardman and yuan-ti ship. The party decided to deal with it head-on, and after the crafts are broadsided, managed to hold off a sizeable number of intruders. The battle was hard at times with serpentfolk on the enemy ship using dazing psychic attacks, but the heroes prevailed nonetheless.

5.1 Attack on Bellenau
08-Aug-16 (Mon)
The heroes arrive in Bellenau late night, on the backs of rumors about heightened lizardmen and yuan-ti activities of late. Here they are greeted by Aiven Corleone (corporal) from the East Garrison. He seems familiar with Cassandra, and after a light hearted exchange, delivers some information and she promptly moves out for her next assignment, leaving Aiven to travel with the party. As the party are making arrangements for accommodations, commotion erupts about the port town, and they hurry out of the inn to see fires and lightning from various areas.
The heroes hurry out into the night and decide to engage some of the lizardfolk and yuan-ti that have managed to enter into the city via the sea and port area. Smashing bruisers, lightning-striking yuan-ti, and shadowy unseen lizardfolk were some of those they dealt with, but they managed it. After that they helped with the city to put out fires and damage caused by the invaders.
Aiven assessed that perhaps the situatiyon was more urgent than he initially expected and urged the party to leave for the Garrison. There they arrived and reported in to Captain Aegenal, who informed them of an increasing intensity of attacks by the lizardfolk and yuan-ti from the south eastern jungles, and the need to gather more information by "obtaining" one of the more intelligent enemy yuan-ti.

5.2 Graveyard Shift
15-Aug-16 (Mon) (filler)
A pair of travelling dwarves from Kharazad reported to the garrison that there were sightings of a necromancer gathering the bodies left behind by the conflict and raising them as a band of undead. Capt Aegenal sends the party to make sure he is not a threat, and also to "recruit" him for deployment against the lizardmen and yuan-ti. Unaware of much beyond the intention to stop the necromancer, the dwarves follow along, eager to prove their mettle against hated undead.
The heroes catch up with the necromancer in a forest, although the dwarves are too noisy to stealth effectively. The dreadful large carrion collector and the many zombies and skeletons turned out to be quite stymied by the heavy terrain of the forest, but nonetheless one of the dwarves was slain before the party defeated the monstrosities and Darius charged forward to prevent the necromancer from escaping. The surviving dwarf returned to Kharazad, and the necromancer was temporarily incarcerated in the East Garrison pending confirmation of his intention to be useful.
